Some of the snow covered tree's outside our cabin
The lodge where we checked in...On Saturday we all got up early to leave Wenatchee and head south for the rest of the winter. On our way we discovered that going through Oregon on hwy 97 was the best route home, road conditions were best this way. So on our way we traveled and went through Bend. Much to our surprise Royce had other reasons he wanted to go hwy 97 besides great roads, he had reserved us a cabin up at Diamond Lake Resort off of Hwy 138. As we climbed in elevation we soon left bare and wet to snow packed roads, which we found to be so beautiful. We made it to the lodge and to the cabin thanks to that 4 wheel drive that our vehicle has. That sure has come in handy this year! It was so nice to stop for the night, play in the snow, have some dinner and really relax by the fire. Royce got a kick out of throwing a few snowballs at me which I ran away and he missed except for the last one tossed, it was all in fun and I got a kick out of him missing me for the most part. The next morning the girls and Zachariah made a little snowman before we loaded up and left for home, they managed to make him while we packed the car. We went off on a few roads in search of a couple water falls as well as a natural mineral hot spring..we did'nt make it because the roads were just to bad and we didn't want to risk getting stuck. We will be going back this summer for a camping trip and will be able to find these things when there isn't so much snow. Once we got to 2,000 feet again there was no more snow and the journey continued on wet and bare roads the rest of the way. Once we got to the coast the down poor of rain began and we drove in bad rain all down the coast line back to Eureka. The time away was lovely and very much enjoyed. Here's to a wonderful New Year that is literally on the countdown to begin!

The girls and their snow man that was built before we left, they had so much fun!
