I titled this Finally because for the last 5 years we have been looking for a parrotlet also known as a pocket parrot. They are the smallest in the family of parrots and at full size are about 15cm from beak to tail. We decided to name him Bravado because he is such a brave little parrot.

Janelle liked this picture of him, I think he really stands out against the black.

Bravado enjoying his new home that we put together for him. As I mentioned we have been wanting a parrotlet for about 5 years now and the closest we could find were in Santa Cruz which is about an 8 or 9 hours drive south for us. Do I dare mention how much the breeders in Santa Cruz ask for their parrotlets? We found Bravado from a local breeder who just had 6 hatch the week before Christmas and we paid pennies compared to what others charge. Bravado hatched on the 17Th which is Royce's birthday so it just seemed fitting to pick him, plus he was the prettiest. When you stretch his wings out to clip them they are a gorgeous cobalt blue, as well as his back and we really liked the "eyeshadow" above each of his eye's. He is a sweet little bird and has been hand fed from the very beginning of his life. He will continue to be hand fed in our home too. We like that these little guys are genuine cuddlers and like to snuggle up inside your sweater, or turtleneck or what ever is soft, cozy and on you. They are a big bird in a little bird body with a lot of personality. Oh and yes they can talk, anywhere from 20 to 200 words depending on how chatty they are. So far no words but we've only had him for 10 days now and he is still very much a baby.
