One Year Older and Wiser too...

Saturday October 9, 2010 Zachariah turned fourteen. This year has brought some really big changes so far for Zachariah. He started his first year of High School, joined the NJROTC program and is excelling in leaps and bounds with his leadership skills, and he has a goal set to be working on his Eagle Project and finished by the time he is fifteen. His future is so bright he really could use some shades. Now that he is fourteen he gets to experience yet another first, he is now old enough to attend the stake youth dances and stake youth activities. It just so happened that Zachariah's first dance landed on his birthday. This particular dance had a fireside prior with a dinner to follow, we all joked that the stake was really just putting on a big party to celebrate Zachariah's birthday.

When we asked Zachariah what would he really like for a gift, dinner and type of cake, he said he wanted cargo shorts, breakfast for dinner and cheesecake. The dance apparel was Sunday dress, we thought a nice shirt (that isn't white) and a new tie would be a nice thing to send him off to the dance in, so we made a quick stop at Khol's.

Zachariah chose a gorgeous blue shirt and tie (you should see his incredible blue eye's with this shirt!). Austin has a birthday next month so we asked him to also pick out his new shirt and tie as an early gift. He has beautiful green eye's so he decided green had to be it.
We looked for cargo shorts and with it being fall, they are out of season. We found instead a school logo stocking cap/beanie hat for the winter, which he loves to wear with the thick fog and chilly seaside wind that we get here in the winter.

On Sunday after we had omelets filled with sauteed mushrooms, bell peppers, zucchini with your choice of crisp bacon or sausage and cheese, hot cocoa or milk and french toast we brought out the Oreo cheesecake.
Zachariah is thinking about his wish here, he did get every one of his candles blown out.

We started Saturday morning at a place close by called The Boat House. The lady that owns the place makes all sorts of waffles. We took Zachariah and the two girls out for breakfast there while the older two kids slept in. Here is Royce and Malia having a little fun.

Zachariah and Malia taking on the sun and having fun too. Elizabeth (the owner) truly does treat her customers like royalty. We really enjoyed celebrating Zachariah's birthday over the course of two days. We are so blessed to have Zachariah, he brings so much joy and peace to each member of our family. We love you Zachariah and are so thankful you are our son and growing into the outstanding young man that you are. Happy Birthday!
