Memorial Day 2009

We started the day at the Military Memorial Flag Ceremony with Royce and the Harmonaires singing for this wonderful event. They sang a version of the Star-Spangled Banner that was written only for the Humboldt Harmonaires as well as God Bless America. Both pieces are beautifully written, the men sounded so nice.
We then went to Fortuna to see Elise and some of her fellow NJROTC unit members sing the Star-Spangled Banner at a Senior Living Center. We also participated in their sing along which were all patriotic songs. It was a nice way to spend some time and to be mindful and pay respect to those that have sacrificed so much for our country and our freedom.

After we got back to the house the weather was perfect to take the Kayak's out. This is something we had been planning so it was really nice that the weather co-operated in our favor.
Here I am ready to go on out in the Sea for a bit.
And here is Royce ready to lead the way for a little adventure.

We went south and came upon a few seals, they were very curious but kept their distance. We also got to see some gorgeous pelicans and enjoyed a yummy lunch we took along. It was just Royce and I this time. We have just the 2 Kayak's and the Sea is a bit dangerous. It was a good and very enjoyable day. We are now spending the rest of the day together as a family, enjoying some really yummy BBQ pork, veggies and more yummy grub. We are choosing to have a family movie night and some quite time together. Family time....It's the best
